Four months before the show, 1 200 exhibitors are expected and more than 60% of the total
exhibiting space has already been booked.

South Africa as country of honor.
Based on the customer needs and on the food market, the SIAL China 2008 will open 2 new
zones dedicated to Beverage and Food Ingredient & Additives.
Besides the other special zones as Dairy products, Organic Food, Canned Food, Catering Chains,
Sweets and Snacks, Wine and Spirits, Tea, and Coffee.
The domestic part is strengthened by the presence of the new province as Jiangsu, Sichuan and
Chongqing. Shandong, Henan, Zhejiang, Ningxia and Yunnan have confirmed once again their
participation to the biggest table of the world.
17 press conferences and informative meetings have been scheduled between January and
March in China’s big cities and in major cities in Asia.

SIAL China specific events.
In order to improve the most dynamic sectors, a series of events will encompass conferences and
seminars led by market experts and professionals, as well as culinary demonstrations and
competitions.
- For the fourth time, the Olive Oil experts and a jury of Food and Beverage Managers will reward
the winners of OlivAsia 2008 –the unique olive oil competition in Asia.
- SIAL China is not only the first F&B show in Mainland China but also the first Wine & Spirits with
added value activities. In partnership with VINEA, the 9th edition of China Wine & Spirits
Competition will reward the actors of this highest potential sector.

Trends & Innovations Area.
The SIAL China is also the laboratory of the new Trends & Innovations for Food activities in
Asia. Criterias are the new and innovative aspects of those products in their respective markets.
Panels with charts and descriptions of worldwide trends in the field of food and beverage will
accompany the products and a conference will be held on the latest progressions.

Opening of the Food Services & Hospitality Village.
Thanks to the preparation of the Beijing Olympics and the Shanghai World Expo, the hospitality
and gastronomic markets have witnessed a highly dynamic development of luxury hotels and
foreign restaurants in China. With the aim of this amazing market, SIAL China will open a Food
Services and Hospitality Village with specific cooking demonstrations, organized in partnership
with Escoffier China.
The new village will feature a large range of equipment and technical solutions for the hotel,
catering and restaurant industry such as Decorative tableware, Coffee making & bar, Disposable
Products, Equipment& Materials, Chain, Technologies& Network and Services.
